Barbara Jean Donato was born in San Diego to Thomas and Thelma Kane on February 8, 1946. She grew-up in the Bay Area and had lived in Oxnard as well as Hawaii before settling in Bakersfield where she has lived for the past 16 years. Barb was a very loving and giving mother and grandmother. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Barb is survived by her children Julie Boyt of Bakersfield and Nick Orosz of Alameda; her grandchildren Dayvid Martinez II, Caitlin (Mitchell) Illingworth, Nicholina; and great grandchild Bennett Illingworth; her brother Nicholas (Lori) Kane of San Diego and sister Patricia Kane of Bakersfield. A funeral service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home in Shafter will be held Friday, June 21 at 11am at Olive Knolls Church. The address is 6201 Fruitvale Ave for all of those who wish to attend. Barbara Jean Donato, age 67, of Bakersfield passed away June 9, 2013 at her home in Bakersfield. Pastor Diane will officiate the service and the interment will be held privately at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
