Augustine "Gus" Varela of San Bernardino, California was called to be with our Lord on November 21, 2010 at the age of 71. Gus was born in Socorro, TX on August 28th, 1939. Gus did not graduate from any schools or colleges but he was a graduate of Loving Life. His favorite past times were maintaining his backyard garden, drumming in bands, singing while playing his guitar, and jet setting around the country and Europe visiting his son in the military. You could find him at 1950s Rock and Roll Concerts, car shows, track meets, or VIP corners of many casinos. He was an active and attentive father and grandparent. He was loved by all who knew him and was most fondly remembered for his caring spirit and his unconditional love. Gus is survived by his loving son, Augustine Varela Jr. and his devoted daughter, Nelly Borja. He will be missed by all his grandchildren Veronica Gregory, Omar Borja Jr., Augustina Varela, and Oscar Borja. He was a true gentleman and he will be greatly missed by his many friends and family he leaves behind. Visitation will be at 4pm with services at 6pm, on Friday, November 26, 2010, at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco, followed by his burial at Wasco Cemetery at 9am, Saturday, November 27, 2010.
