Augustina O. Munoz was born on November 8, 1923 in Douglas, Arizona to Roman Olvera and Tomasa (Castro) Olvera one of seven children. Augustina married Julian Munoz July 3, 1947 and they made Wasco their home. Augustina was actively involved in St. John's Church and their organizations, the Guadalupanos, Women's Club, Alter Society; she also helped at St. John's thrift store. She was a devoted wife and mother who always made sure her daughter's knew that they must care for their families with love and care. Augustina was always happy to supply homemade tortillas and Chile Relleno, the family favorites, for her guests. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Augustina O. Munoz is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Julian Munoz, 2008; parents, Tomasa and Roman Olvera; sisters, Natividad, Guadalupe Tomasa; and brothers, Pedro Olvera . She is survived by her children, Carmen Herrera of Barstow, California, Jenny and husband Russell Peek of Texas; Julie and husband Manuel Ramirez of Shafter; and Nellie and husband Ruben Sierra of Delano; sister, Maria Munoz; brother, Roman Olvera; grandchildren, Gabriel and wife Renee, William and wife Becky, Irma Mercy and husband Gary, Sandra and husband Derek, Lorenzo and wife Stephanie, Christa, Maria and husband Sung, Joshua and wife Jessica, Amanda, Carlos and wife Elizabeth, Marcos and wife Amanda, Leticia and husband Jessie, Louis and wife Alisha, Leonard and wife Jeannette, Helen, Andres and wife Jessica, Angelica and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa, Isabel, Gabriel, William III, Anthony and Gary, Isaiah, Kayla, Keira, Edith, Craig, Bradley, Micha, Sophia, Alexandria, Marcus, Victoria, Jude, Simon, Lily, Violet and Matthew. The family would like to thank Augustina's caregivers, Jessica Caong and Jessica Gutierrez and the staff at ProCare Hospice for the care and compassion; Dr. Bansal and Dr. Memom; and most of all, Marcos and Elizabeth Ramirez for the loving care they gave to their grandmother. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 7pm at St. John's Catholic Church for Augustina O. Munoz, age 87, of Wasco, who passed away, May 27, 2011 in Wasco. Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10am. Father John Fluetsch will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 2-6pm at Peters Funeral Home.
