Asuncion Martinez Jr. was born in Delano, Ca to parents Asuncion Martinez and Laurencia (Flores) Martinez on May 29, 1958. Asuncion spent most of his life in Kern County and for a brief time called Salinas his home. Asuncion was known by many as "Big Marty". Asuncion was a hard worker whose priority was to care for his family and serve the Lord. Everyone who worked with Asuncion enjoyed working with him and would often request shifts to work alongside Asuncion. Above everything, Asuncion was a loving husband, father and grandfather. A beautiful spirit returned home on July 18, 2018 to His presence. Asuncion will be missed. Asuncion is survived by his beloved wife, Blanch Martinez; daughters, Renee Encinas and partner Jeff Stevenson, Laura Busa and partner Tobias Burns, Christine Persel and husband Chad Persel, Kayla Atencio and husband Christian Atencio; son, Asuncion J. Martinez III and partner Amanda Lerichi; grandchildren, Karissa, Michael, Bryson, Kim, Ashley, Idalis, Wyatt, Logan, Jillian, Ben, Olivia, Allyson, Noah, Hannah, Ava, Christian Asuncion Atencio; brothers, Julian Martinez, Marciano Martinez, Johnny J. Martinez, Ricky R. Martinez, Martin Martinez; sisters, Maria De La Paz Martinez, Rebecca Martinez, Noelia Martinez, Elda Martinez, Lupe Martinez, Yolanda Martinez, Martha Martinez, and Monica Martinez. Asuncion is preceded in death by his parents Asuncion and Laurencia Martinez; sister, Laurina Martinez; son-in-law David Busa. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10am at Westside Family Fellowship church in Wasco, Ca. A viewing will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 4-8pm with an evening service at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter, Ca.
