Mr. Arvin Ellison 1944-2009 Arvin Ellison of Shafter passed away December 21, 2009 at the age of 65. He was born July 6, 1944 to Arleigh and Ola(Janes) Ellison in Modesto, CA. His family then moved to Shafter where Arvin became involved in many city activities. He was a volunteer fireman, member of the Eagles and very active in scouting with his sons. Arvin enjoyed fishing, camping, panning for gold and was considered a very good handyman. Arvin was a longtime member of the Valley Baptist Church in Bakersfield and he worked for many years in Wasco and Shafter as a Superintendent in charge of the cotton gin and almond hauling operations. Arvin was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Glen and Clinton. He is survived by his wife Pauline of 461/2 years, Sons Kevin and his wife Rochelle of Bakersfield and Robert and wife Carrie of Shafter. 4 grandchildren, Sisters Wilma Neill of California City and Kay Fallas and her husband Larry of Lake Havasu, AZ. Visitation will be held on Saturday December 26 from 2-8pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter. A Funeral service will be held on Monday December 28 at 10AM at the Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Shafter with interment to follow at the Shafter Memorial Park.
