Obituary

Arturo N. Soliz passed away on November 24 in Bakersfield, Ca. He was born in Laredo, Texas to Adolfo and Carmen Soliz. He was one of five children. Arturo was preceded in death by his father, Adolfo Soliz; his sister, Sylvia Gobea; and his brother, Alonzo Soliz. Arturo came to California in 1971, where he was employed for 14 years as a Farm Manager for Superior Farming Company. He followed his dream and became a successful small businessman. Arturo enjoyed traveling, camping with his family, raising and caring for farm animals, showing and restoring antique cars, but most of all surrounding himself with music and all his loved ones. Arturo is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Amanda Soliz, whom he met while working at Superior Farming Company. Arturo was blessed with ten children, Arturo Soliz, Jr. and wife, Rachel, David Soliz and wife, Francisca, Elpedia Gobea, Esteven Soliz and wife, Josie, Mary Helen Celedon and husband, Lalo, Hector T. Soliz and wife, Beatrice, Vanessa Bryant and husband, Gary, Erica Plaza and fiancée Vic, Leticia Rodriguez, Cindy Soliz, and Vanessa Aleman whom he treated like a daughter. Eighteen grandchildren, Venessa Givens and husband, Chad, Arturo Soliz, III, Jennifer Soliz, Brianne Soliz, Nicole Soliz, Bobby Gobea, Michael Gobea, Samantha Soliz, Eric Celedon, Andrew Celedon, Alyssa Celedon, Christy Celedon, Hector Soliz, Jr., Fabian Soliz, Blake Bryant, Tristin Bryant, Logan Bryant. Arturo was soon to be a great grandfather. Arturo is also survived by his mother, Carmen Soliz; brother, Adolfo Soliz; sister, Adellfina Narvaez; and many nieces and nephews and other loving family members. Arturo was a kind and gentle-man who was befriended by many. He will be truly missed. For those who would like to pay their respects, the family will have a viewing at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy. Shafter, from10am to 5pm, on Wednesday, November 29th, followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at St. Francis Catholic Church 900 H. St. Bakersfield beginning at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Church on Thursday, November 30th, at 9am. Interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
