IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arthur
Rodriguez
August 23, 1935 – June 22, 2013
Arthur Rodriquez was born to Moses and Cecilia Gonzalez Rodriquez on August 23, 1935 in Junction Texas. He was one of 7 children, his brothers and sisters are Estevan, Ralph, Manuel, Lupe, Eloise and Emilio. His parents moved the family to Shafter California in the 1950's where he and his siblings started working in the fields to help support the family. He met the love of his life, Teresa, in Sun Valley California and was married in the fall of 1964. He moved his beautiful family to Shafter where Art then worked for Tecico West and they purchased their first and only home. They had five beautiful children Albert, Esther, Sylvia, Artie and Chrissy. The Rodriquez home was always full of activity. The kids, the TV blaring, their music, the phones ringing, dad hollering, friends and family coming and going, perms, prom preps, and the kids throwing parties that mom and dad did not approve of. Family BBQ's at the lake and at home for no particular reason or special occasion, just for the fun of it. Art loved singing to Mariachi music along with his family or any Vicente Fernandez song would do just fine for him. As he started welcoming grandchildren, the house was filled with more activity. Spoiling the grandchildren was his all time favorite thing to do. Weather it was buying them candies, getting them a new bike or letting them skip pre-school or protecting them from a well deserved spanking from their parents. As they got older he would let them drive his truck. Later in life they lost 2 of their children, Artie and then Sylvia, leaving the family with 2 less family members. But God granted him more grandchildren and later several great grandchildren to fill his days with joy and laughter. The love Art had for his family showed in his beautiful smile, that smile that lit up any room he walked into. Art was truly an amazing person, and this made him an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Arthur passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2013 at the age of 77. Services for Arthur Rodriquez were at 10am on Friday June 28, 2013 at Peters Funeral Home Chapel followed by internment at Shafter Memorial Park.
