Born April 25, 1955 To Clifton and Grace Wood Lost his battle with Lung cancer May 27, 2011 with his family by his side. He attended Arvin High School in 1973 where he met Melinda Howard; later that year they married (1973-2009) together they had three children, and six grand children. Dad was a man of few words. He was a proud man, Proud of his children and grand children. He taught us how to work hard and respect people, most of all not to do anything in a hurry. He spent many years as an over the road truck driver, away from home a lot, so when he was home he made the best of it by taking his wife and kids on many trips to the beach and camping in the woods. He was fair to everyone and very seldom said a bad word about anyone. He often embarrassed us by talking to strangers in the store, usually asking them for their food. "You gonna eat all that?" he'd say. He would walk around yelling "Adrian!" as loud as he could in Kmart just to embarrass Mom. We would just shake our head and walk away, but that didn't stop him. In 2009 he caught the eye of his sweetheart Pam, adding new members to his family. Jack was preceded in death by father Clifton "Woody" Wood ;brothers Clifton "Jr" Wood and Troy Wood; survived by mother Grace Wood; sons Jacky and wife Shelly and Michael and wife Carmen; Daughter Cindy "NeeBug"; step children Andy and Mandy; grandsons Terry "Butch" and Bryson "HotRod";granddaughters Breanna "Peanut" Cheyenne "Pumpkin" Dailyn "Little Bug" and Kloe "Baby Bug"; step grandchildren Wyatt, Jeremiah, Kyle, Ryan, Tanner and Kaylee; brothers Richard and Jimmy Wood,; sisters Toni, Linda, Letta, Kathy and Buckie; many nieces and nephews that he treated and loved like his own children. He's going to be missed by everyone. A 1:00 graveside service will be held for Arnold "Jack" Wood, age 56, of Bakersfield, Friday June 3, 2011 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
