IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Armando Morales
Padilla
March 17, 1931 – October 22, 2015
Armando Morales Padilla was born in El Paso, Texas on March 17, 1931 to María Morales and Alberto Padilla. He moved to California at the age of 10, and attended Tulare Public Schools before leaving school at the age of 15 in order to work full time to help support his family. He took great pride in his work as a farm laborer, an occupation in which he worked very hard for fifty-two years. He met Amparo Aguayo in Lakeport in 1957, and began a romance with her that led to a marriage in 1968 that flourished for forty-seven years. Together they raised their two children with great love, tenderness, and pride. They moved to Wasco in 1981. Armando was a hard worker who provided for his family materially and through his unwavering love and support. He enjoyed many kinds of music, including opera, Mexican boleros and rancheras, and big band standards. He was a great singer, and knew his way around a dance floor. He sang with a barbershop quartet in Lakeport, and often delighted his family members by serenading them. They could always count on a soulful version of "Las Mañanitas" on their birthdays. Those who knew Armando remember his great wit, his life-long love of reading and learning, and his interest in conversing about a wide array of topics. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Those he leaves behind will miss him deeply, but they take comfort and inspiration in his memory, in the knowledge that he lived a long life full of love, laughter, and song, and in having witnessed the enduring love he shared with his wife. Theirs was a love story for the ages. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Amparo; his daughter Yolanda and son David; his son-in-law Philip Bond and his grandchildren Lucía and Nicolás Padilla Bond; his brother José Padilla; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother María, his father Alberto, and his brother Romeo Padilla. Viewing and recitation of the Holy Rosary was held on Wednesday October 28, 2015, from 4-8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John's Catholic Church on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 10am. Fr Raúl Sánchez officiated.
