Ardella Lea Wernli was born February 23, 1921 in Uniontown, Arkansas to Tennie (Tackett) and Sherman Roden. The family moved to Arvin during her teenage years and she soon met Karl Wernli. They were married October 25, 1941 in Las Vegas. They had 4 children, Donald, Herman, Robert and Carolyn. Ardella served her family as a homemaker and also worked seasonally for Mazzie Farms. Ardella enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, baking cakes and other sweets, quilting and sewing shirts for her sons. She was a member of the Arvin Congregational Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post #8809. Ardella is survived by her two sons, Donald Wernli and wife Barbara of Aitkin, Minnesota and Robert Wernli and wife Dana of Bakersfield; three grandchildren, Eric and Lisa of Minnesota and Rachel of Bakersfield; two great grandchildren, Ezekiel and Cecelia of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl who passed away in 2002 and two children, Herman and Carolyn. Services will be held, Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 11am in the Outdoor Chapel at South Kern Cemetery, Arvin, for Ardella Wernli, age 89, of Arvin who passed away May 26, 2010 in Bakersfield. Pastor Wanda Mello of the Arvin Congregational Church will officiate and interment will follow. Visitation will be held at Arvin Funeral Home on Monday, May 31, from 5pm to 8pm.
