Antonio Arellano

Antonio Arellano Santoyo was born in Tlahualilo, Durango, México on August 6, 1939, to Ceferino Arellano and Estefana Santoyo. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Gelacia Alvarado; seven children, Maricruz Santos, Marina Ceja, Lida Castillo, Marissa Medina, Saul Arellano, Vanessa Rodriguez and Oney Arellano; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. As a young boy, Antonio worked as a day laborer in Tlahualilo, later moving to the small border town Doctor Porfirio Parra-Caseta, Chihuahua, México. In Caseta, Antonio met his wife, Bertha Gelacia, and they married in 1963. Antonio would come to work in the United States in one of the last cohorts of braceros of the Bracero Program established by the 1942 Mexican Farm Labor Program executive order. Upon the termination of the Bracero Program in 1964, Antonio would continue work in the U.S., moving him, his wife, and first daughter to Arizona. In 1969, Antonio, Bertha, and their first three daughters moved to D Street in Wasco, CA, where their family would expand to see 4 more children and all their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Living in Wasco, Antonio, affectionately known as "El Lobo" ("The Wolf") by his coworkers and friends, would work in agriculture as a welder and truck driver for the Kern County Ranch of the J. G. Boswell Company, where he worked for 27 years before his retirement in 2001. His hobbies included listening to music, cruising in his cars, spending time with friends and family and watching classic and western movies. The Arellano Family welcomes all who knew Antonio to his memorial services, beginning with a visitation on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Peters Funeral Home at 1401 7th St. in Wasco from 4 PM – 9 PM with an evening service beginning at 6:30 PM. The funeral service for Antonio will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1010 Poplar Ave in Wasco at 10 AM, with a graveside service to follow at Wasco Cemetery for his interment. Family and friends will then gather immediately after Antonio's burial at the Wasco Women's Club at 1601 7th St. Antonio Arellano Santoyo nació en Tlahualilo, Durango, México, el 6 de agosto de 1939, hijo de Ceferino Arellano y Estefana Santoyo.
