Antonio Garcia was born in Rincon del Chino, Zamora, Michoacan, Mexico, to Maximiliano and Maria Garcia on July 5, 1941. He married Celia Garcia Yepez on October 19, 1963. He came to Bakersfield in 1985, with 4 of his children; and a few years later Celia joined them with their other 4 children. He worked with Grimmway as a carrot packer until his health deteriorated and he was no longer able to work. Antonio was a hardworking family man; he enjoyed his job, his family and his life. His family would often tease him because just as he enjoyed working, he also enjoyed sleeping, and if he sat still for more then 10 minutes he would usually fall asleep. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife, Celia; sons, Antonio (Gabriela), Adalberto (Maria de Jesus) all of Shafter, Juan Cesar, and Jose Luis both of Bakersfield; daughters, Maria Yolanda (Benancio) Segura, Mariana (Felipe) Benitez, Celia (Santos) Benitez, and Gabriela (Rene) Aguilar all of Shafter; and 18 grandchildren. Funeral services under the direction of Peters Funeral Home were held for Antonio Garcia, age 66, of Bakersfield, who passed away November 29, 2007, in Bakersfield. Recitation of the Holy Rosary and visitation was held at Antonio's home on Monday, December 3, 2007. A Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at 10am.
