Antonio Chavez was born November 5, 2008 in Yuriria Guanajuato, Mexico to Herlinda (Gomez) and Salvador Chavez. He married Gricelda Gonzalez in October of 1978 in Mexico then came to Arvin in 1989. Antonio was a family man he did the cooking for all the family gatherings and adorned his home with music and laughter. He had a wonderful sense of humor and also enjoyed dancing. Above all he was caring lovable and very humble. He was proud of being a grand-daddy to his 2 grand-daughters, Kayla and Hannah. His sons were his pride and joy. Antonio is survived by his wife Griselda of 29 years; daughters Mariela Moya and husband Daniel, Saira Chavez; sons, Salvador and Omar Chavez; sisters, Hilda Ramirez and husband Abel of Mexico; brothers, Ruben Chaves of North Carolina and Leonel Chavez of Mexico; grand-daughters Kayla and Hannah Moya; many nieces and nephews. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held for Antonio Chavez, age 49, who passed away November 5, in Bakersfield. Father Jorge De La Torre will officiate at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 11 at 10:00am and interment will follow at Arvin Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, November 10th from 2-5 at Arvin Funeral Home Chapel. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at St. Thomas Church at 6:00pm.
