Anna B. Quiring Neufeld, was born to John D. Quiring and Tena Regier outside of Henderson, Nebraska, on May 12, 1923. Came to California in 1936 via Los Angeles where she was spotted by a dashing young man an Army uniform by the name of Wesley Neufeld; the couple was married on August 12, 1944. Anna was always first and foremost a wife and mother, choosing not to work outside the home, a person of deep Christian faith and commitment. They brought their family to Shafter in 1991, where they were close to several family members. Anna was always at Wes' side as he continued his ministry in the church and nursing homes; she never looked for the limelight, and was content to remain in the shadows. She was frequently a Sunday school teacher and also worked with women's groups. Her breakfast time was for morning devotions and bedtime was a time for prayer. She was a hard worker, a great cook, a loving mom with a beautiful smile. Anna was pre-deceased by; her loving husband, of 56 years, Wesley Neufeld (2000); parents, John D. and Tena Quiring; brothers: John, Jake Deit; sisters: Tena Fischer and Nettie Nord. She is survived by; sister Martha Nikkel of Rosedale; daughter Carol Whaley of Phoenix, AZ; sons Gerald Neufeld of Fresno and Ronald Neufeld of Bakersfield, CA; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way! A Graveside Service will be officiated by Pastor Pat Coyle for Anna B. Neufeld, age 86 of Shafter, Friday, February 19, 2010 – 9:30am at Shafter Memorial Park. 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service and reception will be held at the Mennonite Brethren Church Fellowship Center 400 Kern St. Shafter CA. Peters Funeral Home will have visitation from 2pm to 8 pm at Chapel on Thursday, February 18, 2010.
