Anna Maria Contreas of Bakersfield, Ca. passed away August 24, 2026, at the age of 96 with her devoted family at her side. Anna was born in El Centro, California on July 26, 1930, to Filomeno and Dolores Valenzuela. Anna was one of eleven children.

Anna is preceded in death by her husband Jose (Joe) Contreras. Anna and Joe were married for 60 years and made their home in Arvin, California where they raised their four daughters.

Anna is survived by her four daughters; Delores Patricio, Susie Robinson (Mike), Diane Contreras, and Joana Lara (Frank) all from Bakersfield, California.

Anna was a grandmother to 12, great grandmother to 31, and great-great grandmother to 5.

Also surviving is her sister Rosie Montellano. Anna is preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Carmen, Frank, Joe, and Manuel Valenzuela. Sisters Lupe Gallardo, Julia Patino, Lola Pesina, Mary Marmolejo, and Hilda Sumaya.

Anna enjoyed baking for her family, tending to her plants, and going for her early morning walks. Anna was well known for her hospitality to many family members.

A special thank you to her daughter Susie and son-in-law Mike for seeing her daily needs and antics.

All our memories of Anna will be cherished forever and when we gather for family birthdays and holidays those memories will continue to be shared. We will dearly miss Anna, but she will always be in our hearts.
