Obituary

Angela Melendez known by many as "Angie" was born October 9, 1932 in Saticoy, California to Refugio and Isabel Melendez. Angie was proud of her Chumash heritage. She was a skilled basket weaver, an important gift in the Chumash culture. She had a wonderful imagination and quirky sense of humor that everyone enjoyed. Angie loved men with a sense of humor and enjoyed watching any show with Steve Harvey. She also enjoyed Huell Howser in California's Gold and was known to comment that he was her true boyfriend. Angie is survived by her children; Ted (Susan) Ayala, Isabel Ayala, Tony ( Lisa Marie) Ayala, Nancy Valenzuela, Jesse Ayala, Anthony Ayala, Michelle (Jonathan) Swaim, Rosanna Ayala, Mandy Ayala; brothers, Ray Melendez, Danny Melendez; 14 grandchildren, numerous great- grandchildren and many great- great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio A. Ayala; daughters, Madeline Zubiate, Angelina Ayala; son, Michael Ayala; brothers, Simon Melendez, Leo Hernandez, Valentin Sandoval, Gregory Sandoval; sisters, Dora Melendez, Mary Lou Vasquez, Jobie Perez, Eva Albert and Maria Melendez. In accordance with Angela's wishes, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
