IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrea Lisa
Plaza
July 16, 1971 – July 23, 2009
Andrea "Goo-Goo" Lisa Plaza was born on July 16, 1971 in Bakersfield, Ca. She was raised in Shafter and graduated from Shafter High School. She moved to Eureka, CA for a short time before returning home to Bakersfield. She was a correctional officer with Wasco State Prison. Andrea was the sweetest, loving person you could ever meet. She was a loving mother, the best daughter, sister and friend to many. She lived life to the fullest, always having more than one activity going on at the same time. But she always managed to get them done, whether it was being the wrestling mom; who always had food and drinks ready for the whole team, cheer mom, softball coach, dancing, or having a BBQ with friends and family. Family was the most important part of her life. Andrea always made time to stop and say hi with that big smile that everyone knew so well. She traveled all over the United States to watch her kids wrestle and never left home without her camera. Alex said she can count on one hand the number of wrestling matches her mom missed. Andrea was loved by so many friends, family, and co-workers. We thank you all for loving her so much. Her smile will be missed by many, especially her dearest friends, The Sanchez, Castillo and Olivas Families. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jose and Esther Nieto and her paternal grandfather, Jesus Plaza. She is survived by her parents, Antonio and Virginia Plaza; children, Alexandrea and Vincent Gomez and stepson Colton Santa Cruz; sisters, Katie Plaza, Teresa Johnson; brothers, Tony Plaza Jr. and Victor Plaza along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held Wednesday July 29th, from 2-5pm at Peter's Funeral Home in Shafter. Recitation of the Holy Rosary at St. Francis Catholic Church in Bakersfield Wednesday 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church Thursday July 30th at 9 am, with burial immediately following at Shafter Memorial Park. Andrea's daughter, Alexandrea, has requested for everyone to wear something red and bring a red balloon, as that was Andrea's favorite color. Thank you.
