Obituary

Andrea Kay Wallace Deniston was born on January 8, 1940 to Robert William and Mary Louise (Graves) Wallace. She lived a majority of her childhood in Grand Junction, Colorado where she met her high school sweetheart, Delroy Deniston and they were married on November 15, 1957. In 1961 they settled down in Wasco, California where they raised their three daughters. Andrea was very involved in the community. She was a leader and role model to young women as far back as Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls. She joined the Junior Women's Club, Women's Club, and she was the secretary at First Congregational Church. She also served as a deaconess for the church. Andrea was actively involved for 27 years in the Job's Daughters Organization, serving as a Bethel Guardian, and various other offices. Mom loved sewing, quilting and needle work, but most of all spending every moment possible with her family. Andrea Kay Deniston is survived by her loving husband, Delroy Deniston of 54 years; daughters, Mary Kay Van Horn and husband Walter, Laurie Nixon and husband Eddie, and Dodie Dickey; sisters, Dorothy Kennedy and husband L.C., and Barbara Friese; grandchildren; Eddie Nixon III, Stephanie Herder and husband Nicolas, Ashley Braden and husband Jeremy, Brandon Dickey and wife Shannon, Jeremy Nixon, Christopher Nixon, James Van Horn, Melissa Alvis and husband Brandon, Leslie Dickey and her 5 great grandchildren; Savannah Braden, Remy Herder, Marley Dickey, Jackson Braden, Ellie Dickey. Donation can be made in Andrea Deniston's name to the Wasco Women's Club. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11am at Grace Community Church for Andrea Kay Deniston, age 72 of Wasco who passed away June 29, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. Pastor Jim Wheeler will officiate the service; interment will be private at Wasco Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 2-8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
