Ana Maria was born September 3, 1920 in Jalisco, Mexico to Miguel and Valdina (Navarro) Velasco. She married Roque Vargas in 1934 and they raised eight children. In 1960 the family moved to Arvin and Ana Maria served her family as a homemaker. Roque preceded Ana Maria in death in 19(--). Ana Maria was also preceded in death by her son, Robert. Ana Maria loved her church and attended regularly until her health failed. Ana Maria will be remembered by her family as a great person and a loving mother. She is survived by 4 sons, Miguel Vargas, Phil Vargas and wife Lori, David Vargas, Fernando Duran and wife Joanie; 3 daughters, Lupe Cardenas and husband Pedro, Ramona Aguayo and husband Feliciano and Sarah Vargas; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Pedro Velasco; 1 sister, Rosario Pereira; and numerous nieces and nephews. Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday, June 14 at 5pm at Arvin Funeral Home for Ana Maria Vargas, age 88, who passed away June 7, 2009 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 15, at 10am at St. Agustine Church, Lamont. Fr. John Schmall will officiate and interment will follow at South Kern Cemetery District, Arvin. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 14, from 2pm to 8pm at Arvin Funeral Home. Sus sobrevivientes son sus 4 hijos, Miguel Vargas, Phil Vargas y esposa Lori, David Vargas, Fernando Duran y su esposa Joanie; y sus 3 hijas, Lupe Cardenas y esposo Pedro, Ramona Aguayo y su esposo Feliciano y Sarah Vargas; 18 nietos; 20 Biznietos; un hermano, Pedro Velasco; una hermana, Rosario Pereira; y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas. El Santo Rosario va a ser recitado el Domingo, 14 de Junio, ala 5 pm en la Capilla de la Casa Funeraria de Arvin para Ana Maria Vargas, de 88 años de edad, que fallecio el 7 de Junio, 2009 in Bakersfield. La Misa de Entierro Cristiano se celebrara el Lunes, 15 de Junio, alas 10 am en la Iglesia Catolica de San Agustin de Lamont.
