Obituary

Alvaro "LuLu" Gardea was taken from our lives suddenly on Saturday, April 16, 2011, driving to work. He leaves behind many broken hearts and memories that will hold us over until we meet again. Alvaro was born in his hometown of Bakersfield, CA on January 26, 1990, to Gracie (Gardea) Prado and Pedro Valles. He attended Williams Elementary, Compton Jr. High, Centennial High School and CLC Tech then immediately started working at Bolthouse Farms and Orange Julius in the Valley Plaza, where he set his eyes on his love, Christina Lopez, they've been each other's morning star and evening moon light ever since. Recently he was employed with ProTools as a laborer. Alvaro was a loving father who helped in every way with home shores and took fatherhood seriously. He was a field laborer with ProTool Services for the last two years. Pastimes included going to the movies, spending time with his family, watching Dallas Cowboy Football games, dressing up for Halloween and leaving many with a smile or a good laugh. Alvaro was open to trying anything at least once. Many considered him a big brother because of the carry love and advise he would offer. Although he was a big strong man he had very soft kind heart, quick to help others before himself. The man who raised him from an infant, his dad, Alvaro Rodriguez Jr., preceded Alvaro Gardea in death. He is survived by the love of his life Christina Lopez; mother Gracie Prado, stepfather Martin Prado; brothers Raul Rodriguez and Mark Anthony Valles; Paternal Grandparents Celia and Alvaro Rodriguez Sr.; Maternal Grandparents Blanca Gardea and Ramon Oropeza; son Alvaro Gardea Jr., Daughter Isabella Genises Lopez-Gardea; a large and loving extended family, many Co-workers at ProTool Services; numerous friends and acquaintances. 10 am Mass of the Resurrection for Alvaro Gardea, age 21, will be officiated by Father Jorge De La Torre of St. Thomas Catholic Church on Monday, April 25, 2011, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm.
