Alicia Saenz, fondly known as Alicia to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, in Bakersfield, CA, after a prolonged illness. Born on July 9, 1943, in Imperial, TX, Alicia's life was one marked by generosity, intelligence, and an enduring love for her family and community.Alicia was the cherished matriarch of a loving family. She is survived by her devoted children, Vickie (Greg) Zucker, and Lisa (Josh) Rogers. Alicia's joy was multiplied through her grandchildren, Jordan Ross, Alexis (D'kota) Seymens-Bracket, and Jackson Rogers, as well as her great-grandchildren, Mason and Hirie Spencer, who will miss her deeply. Her siblings, Eufelia (Pete) Bonilla, Felipe (Don Scott) Primera, Jr., Elva Farias, Susie (Lin Monas) Flores, and Tony (Kathy) Primera will forever remember her loving spirit.Alicia's dedication to her community was exemplified through her work. She served as a compassionate caregiver with the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County (ADAKC) for a decade. Her kindness and patience made a lasting impact on the lives of many families navigating the challenges of Alzheimer's. Alicia's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she shared this passion by teaching Catechism at Christ the King Church in Bakersfield for five years, touching the hearts and minds of countless young individuals.A woman of many interests, Alicia's love for life was evident in her everyday joys. She never encountered a cup of coffee she didn't enjoy and took great pleasure in tending to her garden, her hands nurturing life in the soil as she did in her relationships. In her younger years, Alicia's adventurous spirit shone through her love of horseback riding. Her evenings were often spent enthralled by crime shows, courtroom dramas, and the captivating twists of her favorite soap operas.Those who knew Alicia admired her for her generous spirit. She gave freely, not only through material gifts but also through her time, her wisdom, and her love. Intelligent and thoughtful, she was a source of sage advice and insightful conversation. Above all, Alicia was loving. It was a love that was felt in her warm embraces, seen in her kind gestures, and heard in her encouraging words.Alicia Saenz lived a life that was rich in experiences and abundant in love. Her memory will be held dear, a treasure within the stories that will be passed down through generations. As we say goodbye to Alicia, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the indelible mark she left on the world.
