Alfredo was born May 3, 1929 in Santa Maria, Texas to Jose and Guadalupe (Garcia) Gonzales. He was married to Angelita Gonzales in 1957. He was raised in Texas and came to Shafter in 1969 where he raised his family. He served his family as a loving father, grandfather and hard working man. He will always be remembered for his love of fishing, scrap metaling, working on cars and he always enjoyed metal detecting around houses and parks. Alfredo Gonzales, of Shafter, passed away on January 20, 2014 in Bakersfield, California. He will always be missed by his loving family. Alfredo is survived by his loving family children Mario Gonzales of Shafter, Lupe Gonzales of Bakersfield, Esperanza Gonzales of Shafter, Ruben Gonzales of Las Vegas, and Alfredo Gonzales Jr. of Shafter; step-children Margarita Garza of Shafter, Maria Laughlin of Las Vegas, Johnny and Joe Ramon both of Shafter; 47 grandchildren; many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Angelita Gonzales. We would love to give a special thanks to Bertha who took care of him all these years, we are very grateful to her, and all our family and friends. A Mass a Christian Burial was held at St. Therese's Catholic Church on Friday January 24th and interment followed at Shafter Memorial Park. Recitation of the Holy Rosary was held in the chapel of Peters Funeral Home on Thursday January 23, 2014. Pall bearers were, Jamie Garza, Joe Garza, Michael Gonzales, Ruben Gonzales Jr., Rafael Martinez and Rudy Martinez.
