Alex John Sleven was born August 27, 1910 in Los Angeles, California to John and Tanya (Gusiev) Sleven. He married Mary Klubnikin July 3, 1937 and they moved to Shafter in 1945. Alex was a bookkeeper and worked for Richland Chevrolet for 33 years. Alex J. Sleven, age 96, joined his Lord Jesus Christ June 28, 2007 in Escondido, California. He is survived by his family, John, Tanya, Jeffrey, Mark, Staci and Jacinda Berokoff. Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Mary who passed away October 4, 2005. A prayer vigil was held Saturday June 30 at 7pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter. Funeral service was held Sunday, July 1 at 11am followed by interment at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation was held Saturday June 30 from 4pm-8pm.
