Obituary for Alannah Kay Rill Alannah Kay Rill was born on February 24th, 1953, to Joan and Elzie Lee Grissom in Santa Paula, California. Growing up, her family moved throughout Central California. Before attending high school, they settled in Shafter, California. Alannah graduated from Shafter High School in 1971. In 1976, she met her husband of 45 years, Stephen Rill and they married later in 1976 and had two children Stephanie and Stephen. In 1981, she started working at the Shafter Recreation and Park District and was a wonderful advocate for the senior program as well as the youth sports program. In 2001, she retired and explored another dream to work more closely with seniors. She moved to Las Vegas and became a property manager for 55+ senior living and worked alongside her husband for 15 years. In 2015, she found out she was going to be a grandma and retired again and moved back to Shafter to be closer to her daughter and family. Alannah loved her family and was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Alannah was so happy and caring to others. Alannah will be remembered for her wonderful smile, laugh, and kindness, and of course all her wonderful conversations she had with family, friends, and even strangers. Alannah lost her battle with cancer on February 26th, 2022, and is preceded in death by her son, Stephen Rill, her sister Vicky Grissom-Gonzales, her parents Joan and Elzie Lee Grissom. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Rill; her daughter, Stephanie Rill (George Bratton); granddaughter Mara Bratton; her brother Ronnie Grissom (Marge); her sister-laws Peggy Michael (Rod), Maryjo Rill; her nieces and nephews, Alicia Uresti (Chris), Korie Michael, Rosemary Ceballos (Jorge), Daniel Webb (Tasha), Ron John Grissom, Rodney Michael (Jenifer), and Jason Michael and several others. The family wishes to thank Nico and Gisell her nurses at Memorial Hospital who were so kind and caring and kept answering all her daughter's questions about Alannah's condition each day. Also, thanks to Bristol Hospice for helping Alannah be with family and comfortable in her final days of life. A celebration of life will take place at Peter's Funeral Home in Shafter on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5pm-8pm. A graveside service in Las Vegas, NV will be held on a future date.
