Aileen Hartzog Wooldridge passed away on August 9th 2009, at her home in Bakersfield having succumbed to the effects of a recent stroke. She was surrounded by her family who loved and admired her. Aileen was born August 26th, 1913, in Holtville, CA. Her father , William E. Hartzog, a water engineer, was greatly involved in the development of the intricate water irrigation system in Imperial County with the support of his wife, Annie Hartzog. Aileen attended Pomona College where she was the piano accompanist for the highly accomplished choral group of the college. After aquiring her Bachelor's degree she recieved her Master's in education from USC. Aileen moved to Bakersfield where she taught music at Beardsley School. In 1938, she married Joseph Wooldridge, whom she supported in his legal career as one of Kern County's district attorneys and later as a leading trial attorney. Aileen was very active in Mother Singers, Assistance League and PEO, all of which were strong charities helping those in need. Aileen is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, MaryAnn and Joe Hernandez, Susan and Gary Hamilton and Joan and Larry Cox. Her husband Joe and son Jim predeceased her. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Her family will never forget her loving support and diligent effort on their behalf. The family is greatly appreciative of the compassionate care given her by Dr. David Dougherty, Hoffman Hospice, Wanda Garner, Gelizabeth, Ira and Angela. Visitation will be held at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon St. on Thursday August 13th from 2-8PM. The Funeral Service will be Friday August 14th at 10:00 A.M. at the Parkside Church, 2515 Church Ave., Bakersfield. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to PEO Foundation, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50312 in Aileens name.
