Obituary

Agnes Mary (Walsh) Demler passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 20, 2015 in Bakersfield, CA. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Agnes was known for her unconditional love and her unrelenting kindness— she placed everyone's wishes above her own and was always in the kitchen (preparing food for those she loved). Agnes was born on September 3, 1921 in New York, NY to John and Mary Walsh. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Arizona and, shortly after, married the love of her life, Edmund Demler, on October 31, 1944. Agnes and Edmund lived in Southern California and were happily married for 58 years. They were blessed with seven children: John, Paul, Tom, Kevin, Donna, Edmund, and David. Agnes loved her husband and children, endlessly. She raised her children on a poultry ranch and remained a dedicated and supportive wife for Edmund's poultry business throughout their marriage. They later moved to Wasco, CA, where Edmund and his sons (Tom and David) built two egg ranches. Her humility was something that she never wished to be recognized for, but Agnes's unconditional love and service to others throughout her lifetime was unparalleled. Agnes is preceded in death by her husband Edmund who passed away in 2002 and her son Tom who passed away in 2004. She is survived by her children and their families: John and Linda Demler of Hemet, CA; Paul and Marilyn Demler of Escondido, CA; Mary Demler of Wasco, CA; Kevin and Mary Demler of Poway, CA; Kevin and Mary Demler of Poway, CA; Donna and Richard Straub of Fallbrook, CA; Ed and Monica Demler of Escondido, CA; David and Sharman Demler of Wasco, CA; as well as 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Agnes's family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Agnes's personal caregivers who cared and loved her over the past 3 years (particularly Maria Ramos,Corinda Silversmith, and Alicia Webb). Agnes's family would also like to thank Teresa Miller, Agnes's personal friend and hairdresser for over the past 20 years. The family would also like to thank everyone for their condolences that have followed since Agnes's passing. Rosary will be held from 7-8pm on Thursday evening, February 26, 2015 at Peter's Funeral Home in Wasco. The Funeral service for Agnes will be held at St. Francis Church in Bakersfield, CA on Friday February 27, 2015 at 1:30pm and will be officiated by Fr. Craig Harrison. She will be buried adjacent to her husband, Edmund, at Eternal Hills in Oceanside, CA. The graveside service will be held on Saturday February 28, 2015 at 12:30pm.
