Ada Mae Villegas was born in Oklahoma to Ada (Neel ) and James Milton Johnson on August 7, 1921. A Wasco resident since 1954, Mrs. Villegas died peacefully at home on July 5, 2010. Widow of retired Wasco Postmaster Al Villegas, Ada worked for many years at the Wasco News, first as Society Editor and later as Editor-in-Chief. In 1957 she wrote a history of Wasco for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the city's founding. After retiring from the Wasco News, Mrs. Villegas ran the Gift Shop at Hume Lake Christian Camps where her husband ran the small Post Office. A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Villegas touched the lives of many of her customers at the Gift Shop. Ada is preceded in death by her husband Al Villegas. She is survived by her sons, Robert Morrison of Wasco and Milton Charlton of Guilford, Connecticut; as well as by three step-daughters: Dickie Greene of Bakersfield, Marlynn Strauss of La Habra, and Yvonne Hart of Boise, Idaho. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, July 9, 2010 for Ada Mae Villegas at 11am at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
