Abnis Janzen was born June 12, 1916 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Charles A. and Agnes (Cornelson) Wichert. Abnis married Al Janzen July 12, 1936 and they moved to Kern County in 1940 where the loving, devoted couple raised their five children. Abnis received Jesus Christ as her personal savior at age 14. Her living testimony made way for all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who each have made the personal decision to follow Jesus. Our prayer warrior, see you in heaven. Abnis is survived by her five children, Judy Wilson and husband Charles, Bonnie Boles and husband Jerry, Sharon Jantzen and husband Lloyd, Darrell Janzen and wife Joan, and Connie Fleishauer and husband Steve; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by husbands, Albert Janzen who passed away in 1973; Alvin Nickel who passed away in 1981, and Willard Janzen who passed away in 2001; parents and 12 siblings; a baby son and 4 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 22 at Laurelglen Bible Church at 11:00am for Abnis Janzen, age 91, of Bakersfield who passed away May 16, 2008. Pastor Milt Cole of Riverlakes Community Church will officiate the services. Services will be under the direction of Peters Funeral Home and interment will be private at Shafter Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Abnis' name to Central Coast Youth for Christ, PO Box 1667, San Luis Obispo CA 93406.
