Obituary

ABE S. EDIGER Oct. 25, 1905 – July 7, 2007 Abe was born in Buhler, Kansas and farmed for about 45 years in the Wasco/Shafter area, then moved to Fresno, Reedley and San Jose, Ca and died in Salem, Oregon at the age of 101. He was married to Frances Gloecker for 39 years and to Frieda Friesen Hagen for 32 years. He is survived by 4 children; Jeanette Flaming of Salem, OR, Evelyn Heinrichs of Grants Pass, Or, Dan Ediger of San Jose, CA, Jim Ediger of Puyallup,WA; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren Abe loved his Lord and Saviour and always looked forward to eternal life with God. He loved, supported and participated in the Mennoite Brethren Church in many ways. Abe especially loved singing. He felt privileged to farm; he opened new ground near Wasco and was grateful to participate in the miracle of growth and the cycles of life. After surviving losses, herbicides, pesticides, cancer, a crushed leg, heart attacks, accidents, a broken hip at age 99, and a big celebration of his 100th birthday, Abe completed his journey and reached his heavenly home. Abe was grateful to God for His Grace, Presence and Promises. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Mennonite Brethren Archives, 1717 S. Chestnut, Fresno, CA 93702. Funeral services under the direction of Peters Funeral Home were conducted for Abe S. Ediger. A time for viewing/gathering was held at 10:30am Wednesday July 11th, at the Shafter Mennonite Church with services to follow at t 11:30am. Private interment was at Shafter Cemetery.
